News: New RT on the way next year with the new twin cam motor?? What do you reckon?? 130BHP on the HP2, I bet with a tune for torque the gains would be impressive. Imagine the torque on that for the RT??
It is definite now, as BMW are releasing the RT1200 in Black, a sure sign the model is on the way out
FUEL PUMP CONTROLLER FAILURE, WORKAROUND WIRING SPLICED INTO POWER OUTLET WHITE +VE OLD PLUG FROM FAILED FPC
FPC REMOVED AND EMERGENCY PLUG INSTALLED WIRING STOWED AWAY
NEWS Got our results through for the RBR we were Awarded a Bronze for 2008 not too bad considering it was just somewhere to go this year, great fun though.
You can tell the UK biking weather is here:
More news:::: Ride out on a lovely March Sunday,110 miles into the trip, bike looses power, yes you guessed it. It was the fuel pump controller, took it off and it was burnt to a crisp.
As you can see, looks like they have beefed up the heatsink on the newer controller, only £68 LOL I thought we may have needed a can of this.......
NEWS: 23 Dec 08, Nottingham, Our RT grounded, final drive failure, FBMWSH, 30K miles, awaiting outcome from dealers. NEWS: Result, great news, Pidcock BMW come up trumps and get our final drive replaced by BMW, even though our RT is 8 months out of warranty, that is why we buy BMW.
Below you can see some of the recent additions, crash bars and also some rear "infill" panels.
These fit above the passenger foot rest, and stop the excess spray you do get on the R12 over the R1150. I know this for a fact as Kathy and I did 350 miles a while ago in near torrential rain, and normally her legs and boots are covered in spray, especially out in the farmlands of the Lincolnshire Wolds... She got off the bike, and could not believe the difference they made.
Spooky picture here !!
Kathy and I were touring Scotland in 2003, when we were looking for a room for the night. We rode into the Dornie Inn, and I could not believe, there in the car park was our old R1100RT which we traded in, in May 2001 for the then current, R1150RT !!!! Now what are the chances of that happening???
New: Ever get those terrible scuff marks from the heels of your boot on your foot rest plate??
Well now I can offer a pair of carbon look 3M adhesive pads that will protect your paint on the foot rest plate. I made some up for our bike, and after 30,000 miles, they still look like new. £10 posted in the UK, or $25, shipped to the USA. e-mail me: rtrider <at> rtrider.co.uk.
Welcome to our web site!
We try to get out on the bike
whenever we can, we are lucky living in the middle of England as we are equally
as far away from anywhere. Scotland has to be one of our
favourite runs. We have recently been riding out all over the UK.
In 2005, we had a laugh doing the Round Britain Rally, 8,800 miles reaching
every corner of mainland UK. In 2000 we had the trip of a lifetime to the USA, when we shipped our R1100RT to California, with the BMW Club, and spent 3 weeks exploring the west coast, covering over 5,000 miles, travelling through, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and calling in to Mexico. For 2001 we traded up the R1150RT and did two trips to Scotland, the first one being a week on The Orkney Islands, and a long weekend on the Lizard in Cornwall. 2002 was a week in Scotland then two weeks in the south of France. 2003 we had a week in Scotland, and a long weekend in Scotland.
2004 started off with a week in the glorious Galloway Forest, staying at Glenngennet Farm, 10 minutes from Girvan, in south west Scotland. We did 2051 miles that week. Aug-Sept we were in the Alps, doing the Black Forest, Eiffel region, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Germany. The first week was doing a load of Alpine passes, second week we chilled out in the Mosel Valley. 2005 We took delivery of our Dark Graphite with Silver Lowers, R1200RT from Shaun at Rainbow BMW in Rotherham. Then we spent most of the year doing the Round Britain Rally. Over 90 checkpoints throughout mainland UK, just doing the Rally, we clocked up over 8,800 miles!! We were in an article in Motor Cycle News, August 3rd 2005, 3 owners that have had both bikes were talking about the BMWR1200RT, and the BMW R1150RT 2006 Numerous great rides out with Steve, R1200RT from Oxfordshire, and also Andy R1150RT who lives in Warwickshire. We also did a End to End run, John O'Groats to Land's End, for charity, using no trunk roads or motorways! 2264 miles. As well as all this we also took part in the Round Britain Rally, for the second year, we are aiming for a Silver award we think we have collected enough landmarks for that. Silver Awarded, 705 points, Dec 2006!! We also had a fantastic tour of Turkey in Sept/Oct.2006 2007 Was another good year for riding and touring. As well as doing the Roundbritain Rally, we had a week in Scotland in June and a week in Germany and the Mosel Valley in September, our mielage was low though at only 6500 miles, good fun though.
Weds 18 May 05 ,George and Kathy are invited to the Ace Cafe in London, to meet Mike Armitage, (BELOW) from Bike magazine, who was running a BMW R1200RT on the long term test fleet. The whole editorial team turned up, with all the bikes they have on long term test. See report on Press View Page.... ------- ------------------------------------------------------------
