George & Kathy’s bmw rt website

Welcome to our new and hopefully improved Website, all to do with our life on our bikes. You will have to bear with us as we switch over to Mac.

We try to get out on our bike as often when we can, we love travelling all over Europe, and even took our R1100RT to the USA West Coast in 2000.

Our most recent trip was to Greece and the island of Zante, to our Kerry’s, wedding. Awesome trip, just under 3,000 miles, great weather, good roads, and good fun.

We told you it was coming months ago. RT1200 with the twin cam motor, and all the disbelievers, are now proved wrong!!  £11,775, basic on the road price. Like the low seated version, 750mm, that is low.

welcome to our website about our bike & travels

News: January 2012
Looks like it is definitely getting lighter now, the sun is still around at 1630 so the only way is up from here,
Looking forward to a good year biking, we were toying with the idea of trading the bike in for the twin cam version, but I imagine the water-cooled GS will be along soon, then later the RT version. So maybe we will have a look at one of those.

Whilst I had the top fairing off, I tidied up the HID ballasts a little, yeah I know I could have drilled and screwed, but the cable ties are very secure, and the units do not get that warm, any way drilling leads to more chance of corrosion.

If anyone wants a light upgrade, I can tell you these HID kits are awesome, so easy to install, and no bulb out warnings either

Recently installed Stainless support arms, a lot stronger than OEM, and half the price. Just fitted a ZTechnik V Stream, and I heard the OEM supports can break.

I see the new K1600 GT and GTL have been launched, good old Kevin Ash, a bike hack I have respect for, has given the K1600GT a good write up on his blog.

I am not too concerned about the lack of low down grunt Kevin notices, for grunt you can’t beat a twin. lovely piece of engineering though, but just not for me. 60 kgs heavier than the 2005 model R1200RT 60 kilograms, that is a lot of extra weight

I will wait and see when the new water-cooled boxer comes out, if it is so much better than the current RT, even the new twin cam motor has not enticed me over to change yet.

Hopefully the WET HEAD will have the adaptive zenon light and the built in GPS a bit of restyling and that would do me, no need for all this ASC, and tyre pressure monitoring, and the bloody flappy valve in the exhaust, just more to go wrong.........

Some new K1200RS mirrors fitted for extra rear view.

Sometimes find like I am missing somethings with the STD setup, I will see how they go....
