We had some great runs to the south of France, with it's
great roads and warm climate it is a great haven for bikers, oh yes, and the
cheap wine.

George at Paul Ricard, the year the last Bol'd'Or was run2002

Paul Ricard circuit, home of
the famous 24 hr endurance races of the eighties and nineties. It was a
Mecca for Brit Bikers, as it was the last blast of the summer, with the
Mediterranean Sea only a 10 min ride away on outstanding roads.
In 2000 we stayed at the
Holiday Green park north of Fréjus on the lovely and twisty D4. It was a 6
berth mobile home (static caravan) and we got it for a week for £70, which
was a bargain. The last time we were there was in 1995, when we came with
our
two girls, Laura
and Becky, we were in the car then. There is everything you need on site,
shop, pool, laundry, bar and a large pool. Breakfast was fresh croissants
that were bought around by a lad on a moped, lunch was normally a rotisserie
chicken and a baguette. For evening meals we ate out or had a bar-b-q. As
you can see from the picture on the right, we were well sorted.
In 2002 we stayed at
La Bastide du Ginesté, (below) which is in Flayosc a small town north of
Draguignan in Provence. It was a lovely large room with peace and quiet and
no children. It had a lovely pool and as you can see from the pic below it
was very spacious, and our hosts, Norman and Alison were excellent.
